Safety Precautions:
Always wear safety glasses and gloves when working with garage door springs. Release tension from existing springs before attempting to install a new one. Ensure the garage door is fully closed and secured before starting.

NOTE: Be sure to Determine the Correct Spring Size:
Measure the length and diameter of the existing spring or consult the garage door manufacturer’s specifications to ensure you purchase the correct size torsion spring.

General Steps:
Release Tension from Existing Spring (if replacing):
Use winding bars to unwind the tension from the existing spring by inserting the bars into the winding cone and slowly releasing tension by turning the cone in the opposite direction of the windings.

Preparation:
Again, ensure the garage door is closed and clamped securely to prevent it from moving.
Unbox the new torsion spring kit and familiarize yourself with its components.

Install the Torsion Spring:
Slide the torsion spring onto the torsion tube, ensuring it is centered.
Insert the stationary cone or winding cone onto one end of the torsion tube and secure it in place with the set screws provided in the kit.
Slide the cable drums onto each end of the torsion tube, making sure they are properly aligned and seated.

Wind the Spring:
Using winding bars, begin winding the torsion spring by inserting the bars into the winding cone’s holes and applying tension in the direction indicated by the manufacturer’s instructions.
Wind the spring gradually and evenly, following the specific number of turns or rotations recommended for the size and weight of your garage door.

Attach Cables and Secure Everything:
Attach the lifting cables to the cable drums on each side of the torsion tube, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Ensure the cables are properly seated in the grooves on the cable drums and adjust the tension as needed.

Test the Door:
Slowly and cautiously test the garage door’s operation to ensure it opens and closes smoothly.
Make adjustments to the tension if the door is not balanced or if it feels too heavy.
