716 Garage Door Repair > Garage Door Repair > The New Garage Door Opener Installation Process

The team here at 716 Garage Door Repairs are experts at installing new garage door openers! If your garage door opener has stopped working, we’ll inspect the system. In many cases, you will need a brand-new unit.

Replacement of the opener will take how long?

It usually takes us anywhere from 4 to 6 hours to complete the installation. However, it might take longer if we run into issues with the distance between the outlet and the cord.

Our Time Estimation Process

First, we need to decide whether we will be replacing the old model with a similar one or installing a new system altogether. Installing a similar opener will take our team less time since we will be using the existing supports.

Our techs will need to remove the old brackets and install new ones if they are installing a different type of opener.

Installing a new garage door opener

In addition to the instructions that come with every model, there are some basic steps we take to install a new model. These steps are:

  1. In general, the rails are broken into 5-6 pieces for shipping purposes. The rails hold the opener in place. We put these together first.
  2. The rail gets attached to the motor.
  3. The chain gets installed on the trolley. A garage door opener chain works similarly to a bike chain, but it is not installed the same way as a bike chain! There is a cable that connects the chain loop, and it must be installed correctly.
  4. The supports get installed.
  5. Attach the opener to the supports.
  6. The arm and door bracket get installed.
  7. Connect the safety sensors and door button to the wiring.
  8. Remote is synced to the opener.
  9. After installation is complete, test the door.

After installation: what we do

Our technician will thoroughly check the door after we install the new opener. Any time a repair is made to the system, the door can become off balance. When this happens damage can happen to the door. We correct any imbalances and ensure the door is working optimally.

Straightforward Estimates

In addition to evaluating your opener, our technician will provide you with a straightforward quote based on how long they think it will take them to complete the job plus the cost of the parts. We always try to be upfront with our pricing.
